A continuous wall-mounted worktop turns the unused edge of the room into functional, naturally lit study places with power close at hand.

The project story

Creating more study places without crowding the centre of the room.

DÉTAIL HOUSE was responsible exclusively for making and installing the long work surface running beneath the windows of this university study room.

Its L-shaped layout uses the room perimeter while keeping the central tables free. It creates several individual study places with natural light and access to the existing sockets.

Project completed in a university study room in Belgium. The institution remains confidential.

The challenge

Working around windows, columns, radiators and existing services.

The worktop had to remain visually continuous across corners, depth changes and technical elements. At the same time, the new surface could not obstruct heat from the radiators below.

Our response

One continuous line with discreet technical integration.

The worktop was fitted to the room’s actual perimeter and supported by evenly spaced vertical panels. Black grilles integrated into the surface maintain warm-air circulation above the radiators.
