A beautiful finish cannot correct a poorly prepared base. Before tile format or grout colour, the substrate, falls, drainage and sensitive junctions need to work as one system.
Begin with a sound base
Strip-out exposes the substrate so weak areas can be identified and repaired before they are concealed again.
A stable, even base compatible with the intended system makes every following stage more reliable.
Treat water as a route
Falls guide water to the drain. Corners, penetrations and junctions around walls and drainage need particular attention.
Waterproofing must remain continuous through these zones and is checked before tiling hides the work.
Connect technique and finish
Tile setting-out, drainage position and visible cuts are planned together. This avoids improvised slivers and preserves calm lines.
Fittings, niches and joints then become the final layer of an already controlled construction.
